Pizza with cheese crust

There were children who wondered how the stripes get into the toothpaste. And there were children like me who wondered how the pizza chain with the hat damn well manages to get all that cheese into the pizza crust! Does that sound familiar to you? Then you should definitely try this recipe for a pizza with a cheese crust because it's really easy!

The trick for a crispy cheesy crust like from the pizza hut, where the cheese just oozes out, is super simple. You can easily roll the mozzarella into the crust while you're topping the pizza. Speaking of toppings: Because a pan pizza with a cheese crust doesn't have much to do with the original Italian anymore, you might as well go all out with the toppings: Pulled BBQ Chicken, red onions, and green bell peppers will make your cheese escalation the hottest slice on every sidewalk.

MY TIP:

The dough is difficult to handle and too soft for you? Then put it in the freezer. Chilled yeast dough is less elastic and there will be nothing standing in the way of your mozzarella escalation!

600 g Mozzarella

2 servings of pulled chicken

For the topping


2 red onions

1 green bell pepper

250 g Mozzarella

2 Jalapeños (optional)

Preparation in 9 steps

Divide the pizza dough into 2 portions.

Preheat gas grill to 160 °C with indirect heat.

Prepare Pulled Chicken according to recipe.

Preheat gas grill to 250 °C indirect heat.

Cut baking paper to fit the cast-iron pan or Dutch Oven lid. Line the pan or lid and preheat in the gas grill for 15 minutes.

Cut 600 g mozzarella into approx. 1.5 cm sticks and carefully press out the water with kitchen paper. Wash the peppers, remove the seeds, peel the onions. Cut both into thin strips and mix with the pulled chicken.

Roll out the dough in a circular shape so that it extends 3-4 centimeters beyond the edge of the baking paper. Arrange mozzarella sticks in a circle along the edge and carefully fold them from the outside toward the center.

Top the pizza with tomato sauce, pulled chicken, and the remaining mozzarella. Slide it onto the hot lid using the peel.

Bake for about 30 minutes in the indirect zone.
