Caprese Pizza

Pizza Caprese lands on your pizza stone with fresh colorful tomatoes, melting buffalo mozzarella, creamy balsamic and basil, definitely not for the last time. This Italian pizza classic is especially popular among vegetarians and easily goes without meat. SO simple, SO delicious, and can be found on any well-sorted pizza flyer! By the way, Pizza Caprese is the doughy sister of Insalata Caprese (also known as Tomato-Mozzarella Salad).

MY TIP:

If you prefer your tomatoes fresh and crispy, add them to the pizza after baking.

Preparation in 7 steps

1

Prepare gas grill, pizza oven, or oven with pizza stone for maximum direct heat.

2

Wash the tomatoes and cut them into cubes or slices of any size. Tear the mozzarella into coarse pieces. Wash the basil and pluck off the leaves.

3

Divide the dough into equal portions, roll them out, and dust the bottoms with flour. Also generously dust the pizza peel with flour.

4

Place the dough on the pizza peel and spread a portion of sauce from the inside out using a spoon.

5

Top dough with mozzarella and tomatoes.

6

Bake pizza on the gas grill (about 5 minutes), oven (about 8 minutes), or pizza oven (about 3 minutes) until the cheese is melted and the crust is browned.

If you prepare the pizza in a pizza oven, you need to rotate it by 180 degrees after half of the baking time so that it browns evenly.

7

Drizzle ready-made pizza with balsamic and garnish with basil.
